A mother’s love is powerful. Meet Ciara Finley - Chef and owner of Desiderata Kitchen Her passion for food was birthed out of the necessity of creating meals for her daughter, who at 1 year of age developed allergies to soy, dairy, wheat, eggs, nuts/peanuts, and fish/shellfish. Ciara was determined to meet her child’s needs - her daughter’s life depended on it! So after 16 years in management and 12 years as a massage therapist she decided to go to culinary school. She now runs a successful business -Desiderata Kitchen- its name is inspired by a poem “Desiderata” she found in her brother’s backpack after his sudden passing. “My brother's death was eye opening. And the way he lived his life doing what he loved all while loving on others really resonated with what I had been doing for Carsyn for years. I had taught myself so much and didn't even know or realize it until his death.” -Ciara

Chef Finley’s tribute to her brother and determination to fight for her daughter has been the launching pad to now being one of the top chefs in Louisiana.
